Hi I have a 66 Mustang Coupe and I would like to replce the dash pad, my interior is Parchment / Palomino, the dash pad is Palomino and I cant find this color on sale anywhere.
Does anyone know where I could find one? if not Palomino would saddle be close if that color is available.
I dont really want to go down the vinyl paint route.

As far as my reseaerch can find, you're only option is vinyl paint. The only pads I see available are black, blue, and red. Any good upholstery shop can take a reproduction pad and dye it for you to match with long lasting results over a rattle can job.

Be sure to get the Ford tooling dash pad. Excellent fit! (have one on my '66) and test fit the pad before you have it dyed.

HTH...

Hi Mark

Thanks for the advice I will see if I can find someone here in the UK who can do the dying work for me, have you or anyone had any experience of dying vinyl? just wondering which of the available colors would take a color change well.

Generally you want a neutral or light color, but I don't see anyway to do that with dashpads. You're going to have to start with a standard available color and apply a light gray vinyl prep/primer over it to neutralize the color base and then spray the actual color you plan to use. A good upholstery shop will know what to do. They'l have the right materials to clean and de-grease it, prime it, and color match it to your sample.

The work can be amazing to watch. I had a green leather-like recliner get an ink stain on it and the guy came to my house, mixed the dye right there on site and airbrshed the seat cushion. You could never find the repair! LOL

Look for guys with custom interiors and don't overlook a good furniture repair place either. All they need is a sample of the color to match and what sheen you want and they can match it for you.

Good luck!
