Went in to rebuild drum brakes and cannot get the drum off.

Middle of a resto, lines and MC have been removed already.

Thoughts?

I'd spray some rust solvent around the studs and axle/drum flange and a ball ping hammer to jar the drum. Tap, tap, wham!!

are the drums loose on the axle and being held in place by some unseen force.

if your drums are worn there will be a ridge around the opening side of the drum.. this will prevent the drums from coming off if they wiggle slightly...

turn to image 16 in the second article..  you will see the self adjuster lever you need to push outward slightly...  while you unscrew the self adjuster star wheel....

Worst case scenario:
If star wheel won't move, the 2 pins with springs that hold the shoes on can be sacrificed by grinding their heads off from the back where they rest on the brake backing plate. Then the 2 brake wheel cylinder bolts can be removed and the drum and whatever is locked up can come out.

Just a worst case scenario, cuz, I been there and done that over these 64 years. Never give in!
