I have a 1967 289 coupe. The previous owner put in Autolite 45 spark plugs with gaps over .040. I recently converted the points to a pertronix 1 with flamethrower 10,000 volt coil. I did not change the spark plugs, and the car runs well, although with a slight tick. I want to put in fresh Autolite 45s and the book calls for gaps between .032 and .036. Should I set them to the same gaps as the old ones or set them lower so they fall within the listed range?
